I love movies. I review and analyze movies. I watch them all the time, am I addicted? Is this a chemical addiction to a lost religious ceremony that I never completed and am compensating for with the constant viewing of films, good or bad?
Do I enjoy being overly critical? Rudely bashing the difficult to create masterpieces of others, at the expense of my dignity.
No, I love film because it is the lost art of storytelling that we once shared in the night, kneeling together by hot flames to ward off the animals stalking us in the dark of night.
The animals are still out there, I often hear them squealing and raging in angst outside. The fire has been replaced by my 55in flat panel and though it gives off little warmth, my friends and I still gather around it to hear stories.
Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad, but we always appreciate the story teller for the attempt. Some of us just cuss at the screen.
BUT I do appreciate every attempt a storyteller brings to the flames.
